Introducing The Graphics Design Section!

So I have promised to post a little something extra to make up for the week that I was unable to post and I feel that the best thing to do would be to show you exactly what It is that I am busy working on!

So as a thank you for reading my blog I will give you an exclusive look at the new graphics design section of JaredPlanz.com that I have been working on recently.

This will not yet have a link on the main site but because you read this blog I will not only give you the link but walk you through the process that I go through creating my designs.  For example this digital painting that I created in Photoshop to mimic the style of Dave Kinsey.  I also created a canvas painting of the same image that you can see HERE!

Also If you look through the Spiderman Art Nouveau inspired movie poster in which I tried to explore a style similar to Aubrey Beardsley.  You will be able to see me work from a basic rough draft to a nearly complete graphic image.

This was the basic concept of the spider man figure in the center with a web border and text at the bottom with the title at the top.

This  was the nearly completed hand drawn concept of the poster.  I added a great deal more detail into the border. This was made with a sharpie.

Finally the concept is brought to the computer and created using Adobe Illustrator.  For those that don't understand the difference between Photoshop and Illustrator its simply that illustrator creates Vector Art (Which is paths instead of pixles) so I can make vector art as big or small as I want without ever losing quality.  I still need to complete his suit. But this is the nearly completed idea.

The project that I am currently involved in creating a Gig Poster in Photoshop.  This is a project that I am having a great deal of fun working on,  so I want to show you how it is going.

This is a Gig poster for B.o.B and I decided to take an image and make it look like he was shooting out of the planet because he spends a lot of time talking about aliens and space.

Also let me know what you think of the earth that he is flying off of, because I created it myself instead of using a picture.

There is even more work to check out in the graphics design section of the site!  So CHECK IT OUT HERE and please tell me what you think and give me some suggestions!

Learning To Draw Part # 2

So I have previously posted about my struggle with learning to draw and I figured that I would post a little of an update.  Previously I posted two charcoal drawings that I had been working on and I decided that it was time for me to post a pencil drawing as well.  This purpose of this drawing is to focus on the label of a water bottle.  This was a little more difficult than I previously thought but I think I was finally able to get a grasp on it.  You be
the judge!

Photo of The Day #7 : A Day At The Pond

This picture was taken at Trap Pond State Park in Delaware.  It happened to be just a beautiful day and I had to get a shot of the pond!

"Trap Pond State Park retains a part of the swamp's original beauty and mystery, and features the northernmost natural stand of baldcypress trees in the United States. The pond was created in the late 1700s to power a sawmill during the harvest of large baldcypress from the area. The Federal Government later purchased the pond and surrounding farmland during the 1930s and the Civilian Conservation Corps began to develop the area for recreation. Trap Pond became one of Delaware's first state parks in 1951."  -http://www.destateparks.com/park/trap-pond/index.asp

Photo of The Day #5 : Across the Airport

This picture was taken across the BWI airport in Maryland.  The spot that we were in had airplanes flying right over our heads every two minutes!  Yet we decided that It would be best to leave when we found no trespassing signs along with shotgun shells laying on the ground!

Photo of The Day #4 : Indian on train tracks

This photo was taken on a day trip at Patapsco Valley Park.  I walked up to the train tracks off of the trail and I saw this man standing here.  I asked him if I could take this picture. He smiled and said yes.
Patapsco Valley State Park extends along 32 miles of the Patapsco River, encompassing 16,043 acres and eight developed recreational areas. Recreational opportunities include hiking, fishing, camping, canoeing, horseback and mountain bike trails, as well as picnicking for individuals or large groups in the park’s many popular pavilions

Photo of The Day #3 : Wroxeter on The Severn

This is one of the landmark mansions on the Severn Maryland.  It served as a Prep School back in the 70’s-80’s until it was shut down.  Now this 33 Room Mansion is now home to one very lucky family.

Photo of The Day #2 : Glenn Dale Hospital

So for today's photo of the day Is a picture from the Abandoned Glenn Dale Hospital in Maryland.

This is one of the more interesting places that I have been in my life and even with the photos I think it is hard to explain the creepiness of this place!

Glenn Dale Hospital was a tuberculosis sanitarium in Glenn Dale, Maryland in the United States.
It closed down in 1982 and is now littered by trash and graffiti from vandals.

Due to the amount of vandals the area is very heavily guarded by police to prevent people from entering the building. (trust me on that one)

So personally I felt that this is something that everyone should be allowed to see without worrying about the risk. So "I" managed to find a way into the building to take some pictures for everyone to see!

Once inside the building I was filled with a feeling of fear (I am not gonna lie about this one).  I entered through the basement which according to Wiki.

The basements of the hospital buildings are extremely dangerous. Large pieces of rusty, sharp metal and debris hang from the ceiling. Each hospital basement has its own morgue.
Almost the entire building was quite dark except for little amounts of light sneaking in from the windows giving everything a more creepy feeling!

So this entire gallery I made HDR to allow you to see the details on the inside! I hope you enjoy an inside look! And if anyone asks... (It was not me in there).

Starting Picture a Day!

So starting today I will be posting a new picture on my blog every day!

Today's picture comes from Whitehaven Maryland.

"In 1995, the 19th century Whitehaven Hotel was saved from the wrecking ball through the cooperative efforts of local residents, the Maryland Historic trust and by those captivated by its charming location in a riverfront Eastern Shore village at the Whitehaven ferry, minutes from the Chesapeake Bay. The Hotel, now one of the last of its kind, provided lodging for travelers crossing the Wicomico by horse to Quantico, Salisbury and Princess Anne and by steamship to ports as far as Baltimore. Learning To Draw

So for the longest time one of my greatest difficulties and fears has been drawing.  As an art major there can be a lot of pressure to be an all around artist rather than just a digital one.

One of the things that comes with being an "all around artist" is the ability to draw from sight. Something that I had never succeeded at... but wait ... to be honest before then most of the times I tried drawing were in middle school art and just doodling on a paper.

So finally I got up the courage to sign up for a drawing class and learn some of the skills.

After many primary sketches the first major project was assigned. We had to draw a still life of Bottles, Books, Pumpkins, and a huge skull!  I had never attempted a project quite so involving and I was honestly a little intimidated.  But I put in the hard work, line by line, until I finally ended with something that I felt comfortable turning in.

My second major project was a close up of a wheel.  The wheel was my choice and for the life of me I am not sure what made me choose it! The angle that the wheel sat on made the entire drawing extremely difficult.

I have finally worked up the courage to post something that I have been uncomfortable with.
This is my adventure learning to draw and it is still on going.  Please tell me what you think and I will be sure to post some pencil drawings next!

Downtown Salisbury

Today was the first time that I was able to go out and take some pictures in quite some time.  I was really happy that I was able to get in the time to get a quick photo session in so I stayed local and decided to walk though Downtown Salisbury.  Many of the buildings in Downtown Salisbury are quite old and give you a feeling different than most cities.

I ended up making the entire album HDR hopefully giving you a unique look at Downtown Salisbury.

Please check out the album HERE

I would very much appreciate comments on what everyone thinks of the pictures! Thanks :)

Finally A Blog!

Sorry for the inconvenience of the layout change that has been and still is taking affect.  The main reason for the change was to have the addition of this blog to the site!

So now that I can actually talk with the people that are viewing my pictures I would like to backtrack a little and talk about why I am doing all of this.

Really everything has stemmed from how I have been viewing the world and how I seem to get the most out of what life has to offer.

My favorite thing is to walk around and really "take in" the beauty of my surroundings.  I let life take me where it is going to take me but Ill be damned if I don't take the time to stop and smell the flowers on the way.

So after a while I started becoming obsessed with capturing those moments in which I am at peace with the world, and try to re-create not just the image but the feeling that goes along with it.

So my goal is to share those moments with you and try to present them to you as vividly and intriguingly as possible.

Hopefully with this blog I will be able to get some feedback from anyone out there who is taking the time to read this and view my images!

If you are one of those people I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope that you feel a little "at peace" with some of the images.
